WWD 2020 – Looking back

We look back at previous events from Women with Drive!

It seems like so long ago now that we were able to bring the WWD network into a room and deliver an inspirational day. We would like to take a moment to reflect on this event and hope that soon we can all come together and deliver another outstanding physical event.

The day was an opportunity to come together to celebrate and promote diversity in the industry and International Women’s Day, champion gender equality, and help inspire women to connect and succeed in the automotive industry, The event was also an opportunity to hear from and to celebrate our shortlisted nominees for the Barbara Cox Award – with the grand final being the announcement of the winner of the award.

Alison Jones, from Groupe PSA, was our worthy winner of the Barbara Cox Woman of the Year Award. And Leanne Christmas, from BMW Financial Services, and Sue Sansome, from the Sytner Group, both received highly commended awards. Huge congratulations to all who were nominated and the winners.

Women with Drive

Since its launch in 2016, Women with Drive has celebrated the work of women in the automotive industry. It is an inclusive movement built to support female achievements, aspirations and successes, with a ‘think big’ attitude and a space for every voice. We are incredibly proud of our Women with Drive initiative.

In March 2020 following the event, Liam Quegan, Managing Director of Manheim Auction Services and NextGear Capital UK became the lead sponsor for the WWD initiate in the UK. “I am looking forward to building on the great work that Alison Fisher has achieved. As I mentioned at the event, I’ve set up a network to help me to shape future events and share ideas on how we develop Women With Drive even more. Watch this space!”

We set up a LinkedIn page for Women with Drive – a space where we will share interesting and inspiring content and where we will promote future activities and events. Please visit the page and follow it.

Since the last physical event, we have put together an online programme called WWD (virtual) – a series of one-hour online sessions, where each time we will be joined by a special guest and focus on a range of diverse topics.

Alison Jones joined us in July for a very successful discussion to re-engage people within the WWD network.

Our second instalment for WWD (virtual) was on 1st October, which was an hour-long panel session with three fantastic speakers: Leanne Christmas (Director of Compliance at BMW Financial Services), Sam Watkins (Commercial Director at Manheim Vehicle Services) and Jessica Geutner (Vice President Strategic Customers at Salesforce).

Keep an eye out on the WWD LinkedIn page and our website for more details about future virtual events.
