Brief biography of you and your career

Dal Dosanjh Head of Marketing for epyx Ltd and r2c Ltd part of the larger FLEETCOR group, I am a marketing evangelist, with a career spanning over 25 years. Prior to working with epyx and r2c, I have worked for a number of high profile brands, both B2C and B2B working agency side. Focused on achieving continuous, improved business performance and innovation, using data and insights to change and give customers the products they want and need. Success and happiness at work are two of the most important drivers that always guided my career journey. Listening, advising and coaching has always been a pattern that I have found myself in. A woman in automotive, I am committed to pay it forward, as such I’ve been on a personal mission to support and enhance the experience for everyone at FLEETCOR to achieve their full potential.
Tell us what this nomination means to you
I’m absolutely delighted and very grateful that I have been recognised for the work that I have done over the years and the many sacrifices that I have made to help me excel. To be a role model and a champion of women, to empower, motivate, encourage, support and mentor people is a role I take seriously. To be nominated for the ‘Barbara Cox woman of the year’ reconfirms that this is my purpose in life.
What advice would you give to a woman considering a career in automotive?
As parity increases, women are becoming more valued in the workplace and in leadership positions more than ever before. The effort to overcome barriers in male-dominated automotive sector has been driven by some of the women’s leading women in industry. The future leaders of our world are being reimagined. The automotive industry is technology driven and constantly moving, digitisation, connected data and the increase in electric vehicles and innovative solutions all lead to an exciting time to be working in the automotive industry.
What advice would you give your younger self on having a successful career?
  • Be open to opportunities and embrace everything that life has got to give you and keep every door open, so you then know which one you want to go through.
  • Your success will depend on learning from others, ask questions, be respectful, and hold yourself accountable.
  • Take pride in everything you do, don’t settle for 2nd best.
  • Be your authentic self. Show up, you are responsible for your own happiness.
